keeping concentrated on God

"The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies of the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mold us."

- Oswald Chambers

明年今日/十年

Anyone know this feeling? The extreme exhilaration of finally meeting, face to face, with someone you've dreamt of for ages but never really knew- because I do I do! I've just discovered 陳奕迅's 明年今日/十年 (cantonese/mandarin)! Since hearing it on YES 93.3 one afternoon studying for O-level Higher Chinese I've been trying to find out who sang it, hoping I'll hear it again on radio and catch the title/lyrics, but never did.

It was practically impossible anyway, going around humming that snatch of the chorus I remembered hoping someone would recognise it. Not knowing artiste/title/lyrics, I must have fingered that tune from the chorus on the piano more than a thousand times over, always wanting to know how it continued, never knowing how, making up my own endings… And suddenly suddenly, deciding to listen to a few other songs by him just now, I found it I found it! Can you imagine, suddenly in the middle of Mincer's Equation, hearing that old old familiar tune in an altogether new way (because I'd distorted the ending somewhat through constant improvisation haha.) I'm so happy. (:

Here're the lyrics (unspeakably sad I think- seeing as how finding them made me so glad).

watch! – hippo and sleeping lions :)

oh this is so funny, i had problems embedding the video, so you'll have to go to the site but it's fabulous stress-busting relief from exams. :) i remember watching it last summer when i was back home, and shimin you must show me the funny dance when i get back (soon, soon) ok! :)

today is clean-the-house and read-and-relax day. i've vowed not to touch the tiniest bit of economics today, in the wake of yesterday's disaster.

daisies and dandelions

no edelweiss here, but these little beauties, well "every morning [they] greet me"! wouldn't have thought the messy grassy patches of weeds outside our house could grow such pretty little flowers! (i'm only guessing that the yellow ones are dandelions flowers because wherever they are, there are sure to be round puffballs nearby.)

daisies and dandelions

the dandelion umbrella bits have been flying all over the place, the other day it actually looked vaguely like snow! and there's a pile of fluff accumulating round our doormat. oh yes, funny story! the other day my housemate actually came running into the house shouting because she didn't know what they were and thought we might be under some sort of weird biological attack! haha.

warm weather's finally here. (:
