she?

Reading Varian, I suddenly realised that this guy uses “she” and “her” for every reference to the consumer! So weird- I get really irritated with those unnecessarily P.C. sorts that use he/she all over their texts, but this guy, it’s just consistently “she” throughout! Eh what’s not to like right?

Anyway so I flipped away from Slutsky’s equation to the front to check if “he’s” really a “he”, and found, “To Carol”. Aha. So maybe it was Carol he was thinking of each time he spoke about the consumer’s this preference or that (maybe hoping all the time that he’s revealed preferred so that having her name appear in his book won’t be too regrettable haha). Ok that’s wrong. I can’t imagine anything half as exciting happening to my textbook authors unfortunately. Hmm. How very distracting though, to be thinking of a real girl if you’re dealing with theories and um models.

Oh and I never realised people dedicated textbooks to people too! I’ve always wanted to either get published (ie name on cover- pseudonym counts too) or have some great writer dedicate their work to me. I realise now that I’d better clarify: no academic textbook please! I know loads of work goes into a textbook too, but it’s ok, dedicate it to someone else. (:

Studying has been surprisingly soothing. Could be because it’s just the third day and I’m not too bothered over being behind schedule. Just have to keep this up! (:

Mugging songs of the day:
让我照顾你 – 五月天
回来吧 – 五月天

edit: oh it’s not all ’she’, sometimes it’s ‘he’ so he’s just being fair. heh.
